Round Turn and Two Half Hitches
A round turn and two half hitches is used to attach a rope to a ring or bollard. This knot is very secure and can be tied under load as soon as the round turn is complete.
To tie a round turn and two half hitches, follow the diagrams below:
Lead the rope around the ring to complete a full round turn, bringing it out across in front of the standing part.
Pass the working end around behind the standing part and up through the gap to form the first half hitch.

Pass the working end around behind the standing part again in the same direction and up through the gap to form the second half hitch. Notice this forms a clove hitch around the standing part of the rope, which is not the case if you make the second half hitch in the opposite direction to the first.
